A Christian stance about same-sex marriage

We in Australia will be facing more and more the issue of same-sex marriage.  What should be a Christian attitude? We in Australia will be facing more and more the issue of same-sex marriage.  What should be a Christian attitude?

Some say we should not take a stance of whether a secular state should institute gay marriage since sex is a matter of “personal morality” so it is not for Christians to seek to legislate biblical standards. We should live our lives according to God’s will and leave the world to its own devices (“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church?” 1 Cor 5:12)

Dr David Sandifer argues that Christians should care whether society adopts same-sex marriage because if we love our neighbours we should care about Australian society as a whole.  We do not protect our rights as a special interest group but as Australians we want what is best for all Australians.  Our caring may take different forms for different people: some will pray, some will speak out, some to political action.
