Lost earring

God knows even before I ask

When I woke up one morning  I discovered the front part of my earring had dropped off, leaving the back stud still in my ear. I could have dropped it anywhere, anytime so I thought I would never find it again so I didn’t even bother looking for it.  In the afternoon I took a nap on the sofa.  When I got up I went to the kitchen to get a drink. When I stretched out my hand to take a cup, I looked down. There was the earring sitting on my finger!  How did it get there?  I have no idea.

I have many such earrings –  they are flimsy and drop out easily from my ear lobes. I can’t count how many times I have lost one or the other but every time they turned up in amazing ways – on the carpet, even in the garden, etc. Once I lost one for several months and when I went to Singapore I found it sitting in the bathroom in my sister-in-law’s home – where we stayed when we went to Singapore. I thank God for looking after even such small matters.  Tek my husband chided, “don’t bother God about these little things.”

But from this incident I can understand how even the hairs of our head are numbered by Him who cares for His children.  Indeed “Father knows what you need before you ask Him” Matt.6:8

After writing the above it happened again.  I went for my weekly line dancing class and after I came home I discovered that my earring had dropped out again.  I had no idea when or where it had dropped having been in so many places, the dance hall, the car, the garden, back home…..Tek was having his lunch when I told him I had lost my earring again.  He said, “don’t bother God about this again.”  But I insisted, “God please help me.”

No sooner had I finished, I heard the earring drop to the ground from my blouse!

But it was only the front part, the stud was not attached. I continued to look around, not really expecting to find it because it was so small.  Surprise, surprise! There it was under the table!

Now I am convinced that I can go to God no matter how small the matter is. Didn’t He promise, “call to me and I will answer you …” Jer.33:3   end48
