REMARKABLE FRIENDSHIP MADE THIS FOREST GROW.
Haixia is blind and Wenqi had both of his arms amputated when he was 3 years old.
With their physical problems the two men found it hard to get a job so, instead of sitting around doing nothing, they decided to dedicate their time to planting as many trees as possible.
The two men plant trees in the area around their village of Yeli in northeastern China to prevent the village from flooding and improve the environment for their neighbours.
Between them they have already planted more than 10,000 trees.
Haixia and Wenqi could not afford to buy any trees so they collected cuttings from the top of other trees in order to be able to carry out their project.
These two friends have been planting trees together for 10 years.
“I am his hands and he is my eyes,” says Haixia.
Now, their story has become famous and thanks to that, they get help from people who were moved by the example they set.
At last they have access to a home, food and health.
Now, although they have help and could leave the job, they have decided to continue planting trees to help our planet.
