The greatest story ever told is the Bible.  Everyone should take time to read it.  It is a book of history (things that have occurred) and prophecy (things to come).

• The creation story, and the fall of Adam and Eve.

• How sin causes God to send a flood on the earth. God had Noah built an ark, which saved Noah, his sons, and their wives; 8 people.

• Abraham, whom God called to follow Him and promised him a son, Isaac. Isaac had Jacob, and Jacob had 12 sons. God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. Jacob’s favorite son Joseph.

• Joseph’s brothers sell him as a slave and he ends up in Egypt, and becomes second in charge, next to Pharaoh. God uses Joseph to save people from starvation, including his own family, who come to live in Egypt.

• Years after Joseph’s death, a new king rules in Egypt who didn’t know Joseph and makes the Israelites (children of Israel formerly Jacob) slaves in Egypt.

Moses is born and God uses him to lead the Israelites out of slavery.

• After Moses dies, God uses Joshua to lead the people into the promised land.

• God then uses judges to fight for and lead Israel, such as Deborah, Gideon, and Samson.

• The Israelites then asked for a King so they could be like all the nations.

• The 1st King chosen was Saul, then David, then David’s son Solomon.

• The Israelites then turn from God and become divided into 10 tribes in Samaria in the north and 2 tribes in Jerusalem.

• God sends prophets to warn them to turn from their wicked ways, such as Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah.

• The Israelites ignore the warnings and are conquered and taken as captives to foreign lands, which include Daniel, who was taken by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon.

• For a time God is silent, between the writings of the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Jesus is born to show the love of God, and to be the sacrifice for our sins.

• The disciples, God’s followers share His love.  That includes you and me.

Jesus will come again.
