What the Combined Churches of the Melville Community are doing for Christmas
The pastors of the Perth Melville area have been meeting regularly for many years. For the 4th consecutive year they are working together to bless the community by distributing Christmas hampers to needy families, e.g. those referred to by the local church or welfare agencies who are lonely, sick, going though financial struggles, hospitalized, new migrants, etc.
Congregations are asked to donate non-perishable, specific items (no generic brands, all good stuff) to make up identical hampers. They get together for 3 days to pack and wrap the gifts. Then they also deliver to the recipients with a card with the churches’ names so that the recipients know that the local church shows kindness and help in both word and deed.
