Are you a Technocrat or Academic in the Sciences, Maths , IT, Engineering and English, retired or newly retired, Looking for areas of Christian service in your “Autumn” years, for an avenue to share and give of your skills?
Come to hear “Cambodia’s Greatest Education Need: Technology” by Dr Seet Ai Mee
Dr Seet Ai Mee, was a member of the Singapore Parliament and Cabinet member in Lee Kuan Yew’s government as Minister of State in Education and also in Community Development. She has spent 9 of her “retirement years” helping with the Methodist Missions work in Cambodia during which she found that the best assistance is through EDUCATION. With a few friends they looked into setting up a Christian University with the initial aim of teaching teachers, a project which the Minister of Education turned down and instead asked the team look into Technological Education. Today the team is working with the Cambodian Ministry of Education and Universities to look into setting up a “Hybrid” High School and Institute of Technology.
She sees service opportunities for Christians who like her are retired yet have years still to give to the LORD’s work in the skills they possess… in this case teaching students Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) and English, in the proposed Hybrid Institute. She sees this as an opportunity for a “Silver-haired Peace Corps!”
