A Word from Goldie May 2017 Issue – 29

We give thanks and appreciation to our mothers not only on Mother’s Day but to do so regularly if they are still living. See two videos of why we should:  The Things they do because they are Mums and  Job Offer. Tek pays tribute to his mother in  My Mother, respected and loved, speaking for all his siblings

   Louise Ching

I remember with fond memories my own mother Louise who until she went to be with the Lord at the age of 102, lived with us for 18 years, being the supreme example of a most welcome guest.

In all that time we did not have a single conflict between her and me, with Tek or with our children.

Recently when I broached the subject of living with my daughter should Tek go first, there was a stunned silence before she mumbled, “welcome”.

I hope that by following my mother’s example that welcome will be happy for all.

We spent five enjoyable days in Kuching in April attending a church family camp, speaking in a village church, touring a farm, meeting many interesting wonderful people, experiencing unusual local foods, encountering different cultures, customs. We recorded our adventures in Our Trip to Kuching.

Tek and I have been speaking together no matter which one of us is invited. Couple power is demonstrated and modeled and appreciated by audiences for various reasons, not least that it is less boring to have two rather than one speaker. In Notes & Quotes we hear about inter-generational preaching with grandpa, son and grandson interacting on the topic of “Living a legacy”. We hope to try too this if we can persuade our children and grandchildren to join us on the platform.

My Way of Serving is one man’s unusual way of spending his time benefiting cats and people in gratitude to God for adding days to his life.

We were in Melaka when we whatsapped Daphne  to clarify some facts from an article which she wrote for our blog. She answered immediately. Instead of being in Singapore, we were surprised they were stuck in a snow patch in USA, anxiously awaiting rescue. They asked for prayer to get out before night fell. See what happened eventually when Timothy related  Two Frightening Tales of Drive and Fly.
